Phil Rumbley

Orchestra Bass, 15th season

Phil is looking forward to his fifteenth season with the Texas Shakespeare Festival orchestra. Phil has been a music educator in the East Texas and Dallas/Ft. Worth area for the past 20 years. He will be completing his Masters of Music Education degree this summer from Tarleton State University and will begin his doctoral studies in Music Education in January 2017. Rumbley currently serves as adjunct bass professor at The University of Texas at Tyler as well as Tyler Junior College where he has also taught Jazz Improvisation. As a member of the Longview Symphonic Band, Rumbley has been playing double bass and electric bass with several other music ensembles and groups throughout the East Texas area. Rumbley has also recorded with the Tom Houston Big Band (from Nacogdoches) and other area artist. Rumbley currently works with area schools in the East Texas area as guest jazz clinician and enjoys being part of the Green Acres Baptist Church Celebration Orchestra where he and his wife Karen and son Scotty have been members for the past fifteen years. Phil recently served as music director/coordinator for the Tyler Rose Festival coronation.
